Description
An ancient pair of Boxwood Lion Dogs that date back to the Qing Dynasty of China. This pair of Lion Dogs (or Foo Dogs) was most likely attached to a piece of furniture or a wall at one time. The male lion has a "cloth ball" also known as an "embroidered ball" in its paws carved in a geometric pattern. The female lion has a cub carved in her paws. Together the pair represents the yin and yang of life. Although this pair of Lion Dogs measures less than four inches in height, statues of these Lion Dogs can often be found guarding imperial palaces, imperial tombs, temples, as well as homes of the wealthy.
