If you've ever wanted a close-up look at the lens that sits inside of a lighthouse, this is one to see. California's Pigeon Point Lighthouse, which is one of the tallest lighthouses along the California, coast was built in 1871 and this lens, hand-built in the 1860s, made up of 1008 glass prisms, sat inside of the lighthouse until recently when it was removed so that the lighthouse which has begun to deteriorate can undergo repair. This "beehive" of glass prisms weighs over 4 tons and is quite spectacular to behold. Until the restoration of the lighthouse is completed the lens is being housed inside the Fog Signal Building for visitors to be able to see, learn about, and appreciate the magnificence of the design. The restoration of the lighthouse is on hold until the funds can be raised to complete the nearly $11 Million project.
Thank you for visiting my website. It was Marcel Proust that said, “The voyage of discovery is not in seeking new landscapes but in having new eyes.” I love seeing the world through what could be considered a new set of eyes, my camera lens. Mostly I capture images in nature and in my general surroundings that touch my heart, that spark my imagination and/or that move my creative spirit. It is my hope you find one or more images here that touch and move you in some way as well. I invite you to browse through each of the galleries to find those images speak to you or that you know would be a perfect gift for a loved one or a friend. When you find something you like click on the image to see an enlarged version and purchase...
