On September 27, 2015 there was a super moon (a full moon when the moon is closest to earth) coupled with a total lunar eclipse. This is a shot of the full blood moon rising up over the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Bridge in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. In the background you can see the lights from the Port of Oakland. On the right-hand-side of the image you can see part of Yerba Buena Island.
The image was shot from Treasure Island (connected to Yerba Buena Island) in the middle of the San Francisco Bay looking out over one of the local marinas in the direction of Oakland. It was a beautiful night and a great location to capture such a rare event.
